About Dr. Waring-Scott
A life-long passion for equine careDr. Alyson Waring-Scott grew up on a small morgan breeding farm in Northern New York. She spent her youth riding and competing with her horses in Oswego County 4-H, Limestone Pony Club and the CNYDA Jr/YR program. Her passion for horses and learning everything there was to know about them made her realize her dream was to be an equine veterinarian.
Education
In 2011 she graduated from Ithaca College with a degree in Biochemistry. While there she competed on the IHSA hunt seat equestrian team and helped found the college’s first Pre-Vet Society.
A love of travel and horses led her to seek out veterinary school options in Europe where the horse culture was part of daily life.
After graduation from Ithaca College she moved to Dublin, Ireland to attend veterinary school at University College Dublin. She spent her years in vet school focusing on equine medicine and gaining experience at a large variety of clinics serving all types of horses.
After graduating in 2015 she completed a one year equine internship at the University of Illinois veterinary teaching hospital. She rotated through medicine, surgery and ambulatory services, which allowed her to sharpen her skills in all areas of equine care.
Career
In 2016 she became an associate veterinarian at Early Winter Equine based in Lansing NY. She became certified in veterinary acupuncture in 2018 and veterinary spinal manipulation therapy (aka chiropractic) in 2021.
Throughout her veterinary career, Dr. Waring-Scott has had the privilege to work on horses from a variety of disciplines and life stages. From newborn foals, to racing Thoroughbreds and imported warmbloods, she has known and loved them all.
In her spare time, Dr. Waring-Scott enjoys spending time with her husband, two dogs, four horses and two goats. She has retained her love of travel and also has a passion for baking and good books.
